Fran Altvater to Begin Duties as Interim Dean of Hillyer College on July 1

I am pleased to announce that Fran Altvater has accepted my offer to be Interim Dean of Hillyer College; her duties will begin on July 1, 2022. Fran joined the University of Hartford in 2005 as a Visiting Assistant Professor and is currently an Associate Professor. Fran teaches courses in the University Interdisciplinary Studies curriculum as well as Art History courses in Hillyer and the Hartford Art School. She is well published in her field and recently had a piece in Inside Higher Education.   

Fran has served as Assistant Dean for Academic Services in Hillyer from 2014 to 2016 and as Associate Dean for Academic Services in Hillyer from 2016 to now. Because of her wide teaching experience and her service on the Council of Assistant and Associate Deans, Fran is known and respected by faculty and staff in many quarters of the university.
