Hartt Professor Marcus Thomas will present his research “Do What Works: Using the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning to Improve Student Perceptions of Their Own Intercultural Knowledge and Sensitivity” at the Music and Entertainment Industry Educators Association Summit on March 25.

Professor Thomas’ research was conducted in a faculty learning community supported by the Davis Foundation. The aim of the study was to integrate intercultural knowledge and competence (as defined by the Association of American Colleges & Universities IKC Value Rubric) modules into course learning objectives to inform instructors and course developers on ways to assist students in becoming more responsive regarding issues of diversity.

In addition to presenting his IKC research findings, Professor Thomas will also co-moderate a roundtable, “Scaffolding DEIJB in Music Business Program Learning Outcomes: An Educator’s Response to the Annenberg Inclusion Initiative Reports.” He will be joined by Morgan M. Bryant, PhD, from the Haub School of Business at Saint Joseph’s University.
