Applications for admission for first-year students are considered on a "rolling basis" beginning in late September. Students may apply online through the University’s application portal or through the Common Application.Requirements for Admission

The Common Application is a not-for-profit organization that serves students and member institutions by providing an admission application – online and in print – that students may submit to any of its 456 members. We suggest using a personal email, like Gmail, yahoo, etc., to create your application portal account instead of your high school email address as it will allow us to communicate with you throughout the full cycle of admission.

Students enrolled in our education programs are required to submit SAT, ACT or Praxis Core scores by the fall of their second year at UHart—it is NOT required for admission to the University.
Although the University does not require SAT, ACT or Praxis scores for admission, the State of Connecticut requires these scores for teaching certification. For more information, contact the Department of Education at deptofed@hartford.edu.

ApplyThe deadline for filing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for financial aid consideration. Visit fafsa.gov. Our FAFSA federal school code is 001422. New students submitting a FAFSA for Fall 2024 are eligible for the FAFSA Completion Incentive if you submit by June 1.
Learn MoreDue to the delays and challenges with the FAFSA, UHart has extended the deposit deadline from May 1 to June 1 for all incoming Fall 2024 undergraduate students. We still strongly encourage you to submit your enrollment deposit as soon as possible to secure your financial aid package, a double room, and your preferred Orientation session.
Deposit OnlineTest Optional Policy
The University of Hartford implemented a test optional policy for applicants who believe that their SAT or ACT scores are not representative of their academic achievements and potential. All students are welcome to apply as test optional and should indicate so on their application.
Students who submit an application without test scores will also be considered for all academic scholarships. Students who are homeschooled or attend a high school that provides only descriptive report cards rather than letter or number grades can also submit their application to UHart without test scores.
Our test optional policy is consistent with the goal of reviewing each application for admission in a holistic manner. In all cases, the Office of Admission will pay close attention to your academic achievements, coursework, community service, and extracurricular activities. It is our goal to enroll students that share in our values of integrity, curiosity, creativity, excellence, responsibility, and accomplishment.
