Research Tutorial
These short lessons are designed to introduce you to the major tools you will use to conduct research. The focus is on Library resources and tools.

Locate books, journals, scores, sound and video recordings, art plates, and more within the University of Hartford Libraries. This includes materials in Mortensen (general library), Allen (music and dance library), Hartt Performance Library, Career Services, and at the Biology Chemistry Building.

Mainly used for interlibrary loan of materials not held at the University of Hartford Libraries, WorldCat searches the holdings of tens of thousands of libraries worldwide.

Suggest a Purchase
Recommend books, scores, recordings, or any other materials that you think Mortensen or Allen Library should purchase.

New Titles
Search for new materials in the Harrison Libraries by subject category.

Journal articles provide in-depth information about very specialized topics. Use these resources to find an article for which you already have a citation or to find articles about any given topic.

When you have a citation for a journal article, search for the journal title in the library catalog to see if the libraries own a print copy. For journals with generic names, limit the format to Periodicals. Look at the summary at the bottom of the catalog entry to see which issues are held by the libraries.

eJournal Locator
When you have a citation for a journal article, search for the journal title in the eJournal Locator to see if the libraries provide online access to that journal. The entry for the journal will list which databases provide full-text for which years of that journal.

Database Locator
To find articles on a given topic, use the database locator to find an appropriate database. You can either browse by broad topic or search by database name.

Database Apps
Some library databases are accessible via mobile apps. Create a free account to access each database.
