Boston Library Consortium Borrowing Program
Visit and borrow materials from libraries in the Boston Library Consortium (BLC), which include University of Connecticut, Wesleyan University, and over 20 other libraries located in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont.
Who can use this service?
University of Hartford students, faculty, or staff may request a BLC borrower's card. Service requires a valid University of Hartford email login and password to apply.
How do I get the BLC card?
Visit the Mortensen Library circulation desk in person to request a card, or use this form to apply online.
- The card is valid through the fiscal year (ends June 30th).
- In addition, when you visit a participating BLC library and present your BLC card, the other library will generally give you their own library card.
Which libraries can I visit? What are their policies?
Please see the BLC Consortium Card information page for more information on participating libraries, privileges, and policies (policies are at the bottom of the page).
- Borrowing privileges, loan periods, fine policies, and card expiration dates vary at each library. You are responsible for any charges you accrue. Failure to abide by member library policies may result in the loss of library privileges at all BLC libraries.
- You may return borrowed BLC materials to the U of H libraries, but you may be held responsible for any charges for overdue items or materials lost in route.
Visitors from other BLC Libraries:
Visitors from other participating institutions should obtain their BLC cards from their own libraries before visiting the University of Hartford Libraries. All valid BLC cards will be honored.
