Items with Multiple Parts

These policies apply to any item or set that comes with multiple parts, such as

  • Chamber and solo music with parts or score+part(s)
  • Books or scores that have recordings inserted
  • Sound and video recordings (discs, liner notes)
  • Computing/recording equipment

Policies

  1. One person checks out each set of parts and that person is responsible for collecting and returning ALL its parts.
  2. Items and sets must be returned complete with all parts present in their binder or container. Do not drop off parts one at a time.
  3. Overdue fines will be charged if the full set is returned after the due date. Incomplete sets of parts will not be checked in, and overdue fines will accrue after the due date.
  4. If a missing part is not returned, the person who checked out the set will eventually be responsible for replacing the whole set.

Chamber music parts may be checked out for the entire semester, only for students enrolled in a chamber music course. Please see an Allen staff member for details.

Equipment

Only current University of Hartford students, faculty, and staff may borrow library equipment. Allen Library equipment must be returned to the Allen Library circulation desk, and may not be returned in the book drop outside the library. Patrons accept responsibility for lost or damaged equipment and must replace lost/damaged equipment for its current market value.

Equipment that is 2 weeks overdue is considered long overdue, and will be billed additional fees for (1) the cost of replacing the item and (2) a non-refundable $15 processing fee (covers efforts to retrieve, search for, and replace item). If the equipment is returned, the replacement cost will be refunded, but the $15 processing fee and all daily/hourly overdue fees will still be assessed.
