Transform healthcare through leadership. The Master of Healthcare Administration (MHA) degree prepares aspiring health-care professionals to move forward in their careers to take on leadership roles. Upon graduation, professionals with this degree will plan, direct, and coordinate services in various health-care delivery settings. Furthermore, graduates will have the opportunity to pursue careers in consulting, the medical device industry, the pharmaceutical industry, and payer organizations.
This new program will prepare students with the analytical, leadership, and critical thinking skills necessary to succeed as administrators in health-care companies.
The MHA program aligns with the University of Hartford and Barney School of Business mission and vision by:Our faculty are academic and industry leaders in their field. Their experiences help to bring concepts and materials to life through case studies and innovative approaches.
This capstone project will allow students to apply their administration skills through working with a real-life healthcare organization.
Working professionals who already have baccalaureate degrees and seek healthcare administration skills to upskill or change jobs.
The program consists of 11 required courses and 3 elective courses for a total of 42 credits. We encourage students to take an elective course from the field related to their concentration. Students can choose between two concentrations or a customized learning experience:
• Healthcare Digital Informatics (3 elective courses)
• Management (3 elective courses)
MGT 780 Healthcare Administration Capstone Project:
• This capstone project course will compile the culminating and integrative experience for students.
You may choose to be a Medical and Health Services Manager, Health Specialties Teacher, Administrative Services Manager, General and Operations Manager, Emergency Management Director, Social Workers in Health Care, Human Resources Manager, and more.
Medical and health services managers will see a 29% growth in the number of jobs by 2030.
Administrative services managers will see a 15% growth in the number of jobs by 2030.
General and operations managers will see a 14% growth in the number of jobs by 2030.
The Barney School adheres to the standards of the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business—International (AACSB) and reserves admission to students showing high promise of success in postgraduate business study.
An awarded Bachelor's degree is a requirement to enter the graduate programs.
To assess the potential of candidates for admission, we look carefully at performance in undergraduate and other graduate programs, GMAT or GRE scores, if submitted, as well as the motivation of the applicant as evidenced in the letter of intent.

The University of Hartford is not able to support F-1 student visas for international students pursuing the MHA program. International students who do not require an F-1 visa can apply and are required to supply the following items in addition to the standard application:
