Our experienced directors and staff at both Kinderplace and Li’l Place create a camp environment that is conducive to the mix of learning and fun! All personnel are well versed in working with young children and will create a stimulating camp environment. The staff also features a health-care team, complete with a registered nurse and an on-call physician. The entire Summer Place staff is committed to ensuring that every child has a fun, challenging, and safe camp experience.
Meet Leah Bemis, Li’l Place Director
Leah is a dedicated special education teacher working with Preschool through 2nd-grade students. This summer marks her seventh season at Summer Place, a community that holds a special place in her heart. She even met her husband here! Outside the classroom, Leah enjoys spending time outdoors, soaking up the sunshine, reading, and adventuring with her dog, Kona. She is excited to share her love of learning and having fun with our youngest campers this season!
Meet Ashley Gonzalez, Kinderplace Director: Ashley is an Art Teacher at St. Thomas and St. Timothy and will be returning for her second summer teaching at Summer Place Camp. She brings four years of experience in education as a building substitute and kindergarten para, with a background working with students from preschool through 8th grade. Ashley is currently enrolled at Western Governors University, continuing her studies to enrich her teaching practice. In addition to her work in education, Ashley is a certified EMT with over 10 years of experience, reflecting her dedication to service and care. Outside the classroom, she enjoys candle-making, reading, writing, cooking, and spending time with her family. She is looking forward to another wonderful summer with our Kinderplace campers!
