Having the opportunity to concentrate on my studies and my career could not have been achieved without the generous scholarship I was granted."

Jennifer Nasiatka '19, Accounting

Thanks to generous gifts from donors supporting scholarship aid, Jennifer Nasiatka '19, a student at the University of Hartford's Barney School of Business, can fully focus on pursuing not only her academic goals but also her career goals:

The Barney experience gave me the necessary technical knowledge, connections, and soft skills to get a great internship as an international tax intern at United Technologies Corporation. I am now fielding offers from various public accounting firms which I could not have done without the confidence and knowledge I gained at Barney.

However, I would never have come to the University of Hartford without the scholarship aid I was given as a first-year student. This aid has continued for all four years of my undergraduate career! I will be forever thankful to the donors who made this possible. I have been able to pay for most of my tuition myself while focusing on academics and internship opportunities. As a rising senior with a 3.82 GPA and a great internship at United Technologies Corporation, having the opportunity to concentrate on my studies and my career goals could not have been achieved without the generous scholarship aid I was granted.

After my undergraduate senior year, I will continue my studies at Barney to pursue a Master of Science in Accounting and Taxation (MSAT) to get my required 150 credits for the CPA exam. I have decided to stay at Barney because of the flexibility of the MSAT program, and the added value which the professors bring to the classroom. The MSAT program can be taken completely online, giving me the ability to create my own schedule for school, work, and studying for the CPA exam. Additionally, I know that the professors incorporate their field knowledge into their class discussions. One professor in the program has her own accounting firm and incorporates issues she has faced as a professional into our class curriculum and challenges us to substantiate our solutions to tax dilemmas with research. This type of dynamic teaching will most certainly strengthen my knowledge as an accountant and allow me to grow as an individual.

Your gift to scholarship aid at UHart directly supports our students in achieving their career goals.
