We are excited to share that the new Center for Student Success opened on Oct. 15. It is located in the heart of campus, the Student Union.

The center is our one-stop shop for students, offering academic advising and registration, strategies for adjusting to college, and ways to get involved. Students will also be able to ask financial and administrative questions.

First-Year Experience and Advisors

Additionally, the center will oversee UHart's unique first-year experience, which is designed to help introduce students to campus and make them feel part of the UHart community.

  • First year advising: First-year students are assigned a first-year advisor, who will help connect them with resources and offices on campus.
  • US190 course: Students take a first-year seminar class taught by their first-year advisor. The course is focused on teaching students the skills they need to be successful in college.
  • Orientation: Before students arrive on campus, they have a chance to learn about resources, how to prepare for their first year, and meet classmates during Orientation.
  • First-week: To help get students involved, the Center plans specific programming for the first week of classes.
  • Residential/commuter living communities: Whether students live on campus or commute, they have the option to get involved in campus communities, where they can meet students with similar interests.

The new center embraces the University's commitment to providing students with the tools to live full, balanced, and engaged lives. The center helps guide students to growth and achievement in their academic, personal, and professional goals.

About the Division of Student Success

At most universities, student life and academic services are distinct units with different goals and priorities. At UHart, they exist together under one label: the Division of Student Success.
