New Hillel Center to Open Later This Year

The University of Hartford is pleased to announce that the new Zachs Hillel Center will open later this year in a renovated space in the University Commons building.

The center will serve as a hub for Jewish students on campus and help Hillel to further its mission of creating a strong Jewish community at UHart. The center is made possible through the generosity of the Zachs Family Foundation and will be a place for creativity, community, and ritual, open to all students.

The fundraising effort also allows UHart to create the role of Fain Family Endowed Director of Jewish Student Life. This role will ensure that there is a trained Jewish professional on campus in perpetuity.

Located on the residential side of campus, the expanded Hillel Center will be double the size of its current location, allowing for larger gatherings and increased foot traffic.

“We are thrilled to be opening our first-ever dedicated Hillel center this fall. The incredible generosity of our dedicated supporters will enable us to continue meeting the needs of Jewish students at the University of Hartford” said Lisa Langsner, Director of Jewish Student Life at the University of Hartford and Director of the University of Hartford Hillel. “Hillel is the most inclusive, future-forward Jewish campus organization, paving a pathway for college students to celebrate and participate in Jewish life. Located in the center of campus, the Zachs Hillel Center will be a bright spot where students can openly and freely participate in meaningful Jewish life--a welcoming community of inclusivity, creativity, and ritual.”
