As a commuter student at UHart, you’ll be part of a tight-knit community with access to countless of ways to get involved, fun events, a network of support services, and resources just for commuter students like you. We are committed to making UHart feel like your second home.
Our Commuter Association
The Commuter Student Association is committed to making your UHart experience enjoyable and successful. We have an entire team dedicated to helping you.
Throughout the year, we will host a series of events, including movie nights, car maintenance 101, and lunch hours. We also have two members that sit on the Student Government Board to help advocate for commuter needs.

Resources Just for You
At UHart, we understand that commuter students will have different needs than residential students. That's we have specific resources just for you.
The Commuter Lounge
In the lower level of the Gengras Student Union, you will find our commuter lounge, which includes comfortable seating, computers, access to printers, a Keurig coffee maker, a microwave, TV and gaming consoles, and more. This an ideal space for you to use when you have some time in between classes.
Commuter meal Plans
At UHart, we offer six different meal plans and one is just for commuter students. You can use your meal plan everywhere on campus, including Gengras Student Union, University Commons, and Starbucks. Learn more about our commuter meal plans.
Parking on campus and Transportation
As a commuter student, you will get a special parking rate and have a designated area, where you can park. Learn more.
We also offer shuttle services both on and off campus, which will take you to popular locations, including West Farms Mall, Bishops Corner, and BlueBack Square. Look up schedules and routes.
A Network of Support
At UHart, we are dedicated to your success. We understand that every student has different needs—That's why we provide individual advising, so we can best help you.
Even before you set foot on campus, your advisor in the Center for Student Success will reach out to you to help you with academic registrations, payments and billing, parking, and more. The center will be a great starting point for any question.
During your college journey, you will probably be thinking about various career avenues. In the Office of Career and Professional Development you will receive guidance to help you find the right path. They also host tons of workshops, activities, and networking events.

Get Involved at UHart
At UHart, there is always something to do and someone new to meet. With more than 100+ clubs and organizations, Division I athletics, and countless health and wellness activities, you won't be bored during your down time.
When Eve Betterini ‘20 chose to start commuting to the University of Hartford after completing her first year, she was unsure of how she would continue interacting with the campus community. Eve found commuting did not limit her undergraduate experience. In fact, it motivated her to stay active within the campus community and pursue more clubs and organizations than she had before.
The rewarding part is watching one of my smaller ideas transform into a major campaign.
