For Aubrie Lloyd ‘25, M’26, creativity has always been at the center of her interests. From designing logos and creating mock businesses for fun as a child to pursuing a graduate degree in marketing, her passion naturally evolved into a career path.
“I have always enjoyed being creative,” Aubrie says. “When I was younger, I was constantly creating businesses, logos, and marketing materials for fun, so marketing felt like the natural path for me.”
Aubrie began her studies at the Barney School of Business with an undergraduate degree in marketing as part of the accelerated 3+1 program. Now pursuing her MBA with a concentration in marketing, Aubrie has combined her creativity with leadership, communication, and real-world professional experience to prepare for a successful future in the aerospace and manufacturing industry.
Following graduation, Aubrie began full-time work as a marketing assistant at Lynn Welding, where she supports marketing efforts for Lynn Welding and its sister companies, Intelligent Cutting Solutions and Associated Spot Welders.
During her undergraduate studies, Aubrie completed two internships with Lynn Welding, gaining hands-on experience in digital marketing, print marketing, and brand development. Her work included creating social media content, writing blog articles, designing promotional materials, capturing photography and video content, and helping maintain consistent branding across multiple platforms.
“Through trade shows, networking events, and customer outreach efforts, I gained valuable real-world marketing experience and strengthened my communication and creative skills,” Aubrie explains.
She credits much of her personal and professional growth to the opportunities she embraced at UHart, particularly through her role as a resident assistant. Serving as an RA helped Aubrie strengthen her leadership, communication, conflict resolution, and problem-solving abilities while balancing academics, internships, and campus involvement.
“Being a resident assistant taught me how to support others, navigate challenges professionally, and create a welcoming community,” Aubrie emphasizes. “It pushed me to become more adaptable, organized, and confident in fast-paced situations.”
In addition to Residential Life, Aubrie was actively involved in Best Buddies, serving as both a club member and public relations chair on the organization’s executive board. She credits the Barney School faculty for helping shape her confidence and professional mindset, singling out Celia Lofink, Hyunjung Lee, David Stec, and Andy Shome, as well as Sarah Miner of the College of Arts and Sciences. They encouraged creativity, professionalism, and real-world thinking throughout her academic journey.
“The Barney School treated students like professionals from the start,” Aubrie says. “That environment helped me build confidence in my abilities and prepared me for my future career.”
Today, Aubrie continues working part time with Lynn Welding as she prepares to transition into her full-time role in June. In her current position, she applies the communication, branding, leadership, and adaptability skills she developed through coursework, internships, and campus involvement at UHart.
Looking back on her experience, Aubrie says one of her favorite things about UHart is the abundance of opportunities available to students willing to seek them out. “There is so much opportunity if you just look for it and stay open to it,” she says.
Aubrie’s advice to incoming students is simple: “Take advantage of everything available to you. Especially as business students, there are so many opportunities for advancement, growth, and professional development if you’re willing to get involved.”
