When Max Czellecz ’26 transferred to the University of Hartford, he sought a place to grow academically, professionally, and personally. Two years later, the marketing and supply chain & logistics management double major, with a minor in project management, has built an impressive foundation for his future, thanks to strong mentorship, hard work, and the connections he’s made at UHart.

“I’ve always been fascinated by marketing because it influences so much of what we see in the world,” Max says. “After COVID, I became interested in supply chain management because it was a hot topic. I wanted to understand how it all worked.”

At UHart’s Barney School of Business, Max found professors who encouraged him to explore his interests and pushed him to exceed his own expectations. “Professor David Stec convinced me to pursue the supply chain major,” he said. “Professor Hyunjung Lee challenged me to raise my standards, and Professor Narendar Sumukadas made my transfer to UHart seamless. Each of them helped me become a stronger student and professional."

That support network soon led to real-world experience. Through networking with Barney faculty, Max was introduced to Lori Katz, a UHart parent who was building a new internship program at her company. After interviewing with her team, Max was selected for a summer position, an opportunity that allowed him to apply what he’d learned in class to meaningful projects.

UHart has given me the skills and confidence to succeed. Between the faculty support, my classmates, and opportunities like my internship, I’ve been able to grow tremendously. The connections here really do make all the difference.

“I was responsible for updating supplier pricing and lead times in the ERP system,” Max explains. “It was a big responsibility, but I loved seeing how everything I studied in supply chain came to life in an actual business environment.”

Lori says that Max impressed her team from day one with his professionalism and positive attitude. “He was well-spoken and eager to learn,” she recalls. “We knew he’d excel.”

The experience also provided Max with valuable insight into his future goals. “It helped me identify the areas of supply chain I enjoy most,” he says. “And working remotely taught me how to communicate and collaborate effectively—skills that will help me in any role.”

Outside the classroom, Max stays busy with part-time work, internships, and staying active. “I’m always doing something,” he said. “I love playing basketball, hiking, and reading when I can.”

Looking ahead, Max plans to enter the workforce after graduation, exploring roles in either marketing or supply chain. No matter where his career takes him, he credits UHart for setting him up for success.

“UHart has given me the skills and confidence to succeed,” he emphasizes. “Between the faculty support, my classmates, and opportunities like my internship, I’ve been able to grow tremendously. The connections here really do make all the difference.”
