For years, Julisa Woodard put her education on hold while focusing on raising her family, building her career, and managing the demands of everyday life. As a mom and full-time employee, she wasn’t sure earning her bachelor’s degree would ever fit into her busy life—until she found the University of Hartford’s University Studies degree completion program.
Now a senior pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in University Studies with a concentration in Organizational Leadership and a minor in Psychology, Woodard is expected to graduate in May 2027.
“The University Studies degree completion program helped me realize that even with a hectic life, it was still possible for me to go back to school and accomplish something I had wanted to do for a long time,” Woodard says.
The program’s flexibility has allowed her to balance school with work and family without feeling she had to choose one over the other. She also credits her advisor, Kellie Westenfeld, and the University Studies faculty and staff for keeping her on track and supporting her throughout the journey.
Most importantly, Woodard hopes her daughters see what is possible when you refuse to give up on a goal.
“I hope seeing me do this reminds them that it’s never too late to go after something you want,” she says.
As she looks toward graduation, Woodard plans to continue growing with her current company and explore new professional opportunities.
