Find program dates, hours, pricing, transportation options, and enrollment details for Summerplace (Grades 1–9) below. Programs run Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with extended-hour options available for an additional fee.

Extended Hours

Childcare before and after regular program hours is available for participants in the Kinderplace and Li’l Place programs for an additional fee. Summer Place counselors provide supervision.

Extended hours run from 7:15–8:15 a.m. and from 4:30–6 p.m.

The Learning Zone (Gr. 1–4)

The Learning Zone is an enrichment course option offered to Summer Place campers who could benefit from small-group academic instruction in reading, math, written expression, and study skills. The class is offered to students entering grades one through four.

Groups meet in a relaxed, air-conditioned space that is highly conducive to learning.

Bus Service

Bus transportation (by DATTCO) is offered on three separate routes, with a total of 10 stops at convenient locations throughout Greater Hartford. Service on these centrally located buses is FREE of charge.   

We also provide door-to-door bus service to West Hartford residents for a fee. Every effort is made to ensure a safe ride and minimize the time spent on the bus. Summer Place counselors supervise the campers on each bus.

Note: Bus space is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Early registration is strongly encouraged. Bus times are subject to change by DATTCO.

Door-to-door bus service is for West Hartford residents. Exact pick-up and drop-off times will be scheduled and sent to you approximately one week before the start of each session.

Lunch and Snacks

Campers may either bring their own brown-bag lunch each day or purchase a prepaid bag lunch for the whole session, with a beverage, prepared by the University of Hartford’s food service company, Aramark. 

Gluten-free and allergen-free lunch options are available upon request. All lunches are refrigerated.

Scholarships 

Summer Place offers scholarship assistance in conjunction with certain local school districts. 

Please reach out to your child’s school administration to see if scholarship opportunities may be available for your child, and for information on how to apply. 

Flex Plans

If your employer offers a Flexible Compensation program under Section 125 of the Internal Revenue Code, Summer Place fees may be considered dependent-care expenses that are not subject to either withholding or Social Security taxes.
