The Hartt Dance Division is looking for dancers with evidence of strong technical training, artistry, and facility in the following areas: physical awareness, expressiveness, coordination, articulation, suppleness, stamina, musicality, presence, and an eagerness to learn, move, and perform in both balletic and non-balletic styles.

The live audition will consist of a 2-hour class incorporating classical ballet, pointe work (for women if applicable), plus a 1-hour class in modern and improvisational work.

Dancers should also come prepared to perform a short solo, 1-3 minutes in length, in the event that the panel requests additional work.

Assessment is based on technical proficiency, physicality, creativity, and authenticity of movement expression.  Each dance applicant will also interview with a dance division faculty member.
