Insurance and Finance '18, Travelers
McKenzie Davis interned at Travelers as an undergraduate. Her duties included researching competitor pricing and making recommendations for rate adjustments on auto and homeowners policies.
I learned they had around 1,000 applicants and only chose 18 candidates. My interview skills and interest in the field stood out.
Management '18, Walmart Headquarters
Hern’s internship began when he was at the right place at the right time. While riding down the escalator to a networking event hosted by the National Association of Black Accountants, he helped a woman slipping down the steps. “When she recovered, we introduced ourselves and it turned out she was the vice president of the Global Audit Services department at Walmart’s headquarters in Bentonville, Arkansas,” Hern shares.
Not only did he capture an invitation to stop by the retail giant’s booth, he was offered a summer internship in the Audit Department that night.
My first day on the job, I was able to sit in on a board meeting, and the experiences expanded from there.
