With support from their professors, guidance from their mentors, and the confidence instilled in them through their UHart experience, students from all seven schools and colleges are landing unforgettable internship experiences that help them shape their futures. From local companies to big names like Disney, our Hawks are gaining invaluable real-world knowledge. Let's take a look at some of their opportunities:

A

Caitlyn Maralack '20 held a sales internship with Amazon during the summer before her senior year. She is now headed to Seattle, Wash., for a position as a global sales representative with the company.

B

Josephine Garcia '20 had the opportunity to work as an engineering intern at Bauer Inc. over the summer of 2019. She specifically worked on redesigning the company's wheel torqueing system to accommodate new hardware.

C

Sara Gasparotto ’22, M’23 worked as an intern for Connecticut Public Radio where she participated in daily meetings, pitched story ideas, researched topics, wrote scripts, and pre-interviewed the guests.

D

Zach Stewart A '20, '22 has been accepted into the highly competitive Disney College Program at the Walt Disney Resort in Orlando, Fla., for the fall 2020 semester.

After her sophomore year, Michaela Mueller '20 interned with the Connecticut Airport Authority (CAA) engineering department and worked on a variety of projects.

Kaitlyn Keeler '21 is currently interning with Aetna, a CVS Health company, in the Finance Internship Program as a part of the Enterprise Economics team.

G

James Brino '20 made connections at General Dynamics Electric Boat while interning there in the summer of 2019. In the fall, he'll begin working there as an Engineer I in the Ship Signature department.

Digital Media and Journalism major Derek Bennett ’22 ran the social media accounts for the Hartford Lions Soccer Academy as part of an internship in his senior year.

Psychology major Elaysia Chambers ’22 completed two internships; the first at Calissa's Counseling Services and the second at Intensive Education Academy.

J

Sean Bradley ’21 is currently interning as a sound and vibration intern at Carrier HVAC in Indianapolis, Ind. His role resides primarily in the sound/acoustics realm as he develops new processes for wave file recording/collection and digital jury methodization.

K

Anthony Gomez '20 will be starting a full-time position in Financial Management and Consulting at KPMG in New York City. He was introduced to the company through an internship during the summer of 2019.

Jacob Lamoreux '20 will begin a customer success specialist position at Madison Logic after interning with the company last summer.

Ninamarie Ayala '20 held two summer internships with Aetna in its marketing department.

During her time at UHart, Meghan Becerril '20 participated in the Summer Health Professions Education Program (SHPEP) at Howard University, EBS Children’s Therapy, and Bloomfield Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation.

O

Kristen Ortega '20 interned for the Office of Marketing and Communication from her junior year all the way through her senior year. Her main responsiblities were designing and editing both social media content and print pieces.

Steven Rimdzius ’23 worked as a risk management intern at FMC in Philadelphia where he created a comprehensive exposure report for the company’s Risk Management Information System.

Michaela Mueller '20 went on to intern with Ryan Biggs | Clark Davis at a structural engineering firm in Clifton Park, N.Y., during the summer of 2019.

Macyana “Macy” Harris A '20, '22 is one of a select number of college students who completed an internship last spring with the Connecticut General Assembly at the State Capitol.

Computer Science major Rahul Kumar ’23 completed an internship with Travelers as a claim tech, where he used machine learning to determine whether the company was paying the correct amount for its insurance claims.

Morgan Hoadley ’22 completed an internship with UHart’s Department of Sociology and Criminal Justice’s Center for Social Research on The Litchfield County Opiate Task Force’s Sober Homes Project. Her role was to conduct research on the ways in which operational improvements can be made to addiction and recovery homes in Connecticut.

V

Amanda Milne '20 was able to exercise her violin skill set by teaching Suzuki Violin at Ridgefield Suzuki School in Connecticut. It was there that she taught part time during the school year.

W

Mike Gudeczauskas ’21 has returned to Lane Construction, a subsidiary of Salini Impregilo, this summer for a second internship.He is currently working on the Northeast Boundary Tunnel Project in Washington, D.C.

Z

Robert Galvez '19, M'20 held an internship with van Zelm Engineers during his undergraduate years. That experience helped him land an internship at the Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory (PPPL) in summer 2019.
